Give Me Some Men

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13

“Give me some men who are stout-hearted men, Who will fight, for the right they adore, Start me with ten who are stout-hearted men, And I’ll soon give you ten thousand more. Shoulder to shoulder and bolder and bolder, They grow as they go to the fore. Then there’s nothing in the world can halt or mar a plan, When stout-hearted men can stick together man to man.”

Inspiring lyrics are they not? We need ten thousand men who love and follow the Man of all men, Jesus Christ. He was and is the “Man’s Man.” The apostle Paul in finishing his epistle to a church filled with problems throws out the challenge, “act like men.” Among needed Christ-loving men are fathers. Effective fathers seek to know God as the most fundamental pursuit of life. We need fathers who know what it is to lead, provide for, and protect women in divinely ordered ways, men who are truth-strong, sacrificially loving, and have the courage to stand against evil no matter the cost. O that fathers in our churches would establish God’s standards by the example of their lives. Our culture today is attempting to strip men of God-inspired masculinity and replace it with feminized men. This is nothing against femininity. It just doesn’t look good on godly men. The effective father rears his children with biblical discipline and instruction. A crying shame of our times is young men and women growing up in a home without a father. The effective father gives his wife loyal love. Give me stout-hearted men who live with their wives in an understanding way. The clueless male who can’t figure out why his wife is shriveling in love and hope before his very eyes is a dishonor to the corps of Christ’s men.

Do I hear a cry to God to raise up stout-hearted men for the Savior? H

A time for prayer. “O Father, Creator of manhood, revive Christ’s fathers who have become weary in combat with sin. Give them a firm grip on the sword of the Spirit, your Word.”
