“And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:22 “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:30

Our culture would have women define themselves in terms of career, fashion, physical shape, weight, hair, sexuality. To make matters worse, some don’t even know how to define a woman. How does God want a woman to define herself? Let’s clear our minds on the matter with biblical truth. A woman who fears the Lord trustfully submits to God’s authority. She knows that the fear of the Lord is the appropriate response to the infinite perfections of God. She does not need the feminist movement to define who she is and what she is to be. God’s majesty, integrity, and glory overwhelm her to the point that she lives in awe of Him. She adorns herself with reverence and humility before her Creator and Redeemer. Such adoring fear of the Lord produces a submission to God and in doing so she hates evil (Prov. 8:13). Something terrible is happening to women in our society. Some are protesting for the right to kill babies and some who are teachers are allowing children to miss an education out of a fear of school shootings or contracting a virus. But thank God there are many who daily, courageously, overcome their fears.
The fear of the Lord will protect a woman from the fears that haunt her. Fears such as the fear of not finding a husband, the fear that their husband will be unfaithful to them, the fear that their children will rebel against God can squeeze the joy out of life. The spiritual caliber of women in a society tells us where we are as a nation. Women who fear the Lord are women for whom the Lord Jesus Christ is their identity and strength. H
A time to pray: To the men: “O Lord, thank you for the godly women in my life. Help me to man-up and provide for, protect, and lead the women for whom I am responsible, as I follow Jesus Christ.”
