The wise person has his eyes in his head, but the fool walks in darkness. And yet I perceived that the same event happens to all of them. Ecclesiastes 2:14

Movie stars are an interesting study in how life and death can be lived so emptily. One of my mini-hobbies has been the biographies (the short versions) of movie stars. They leave me wondering if they ever read the book of Ecclesiastes. One of the fascinating topics is that of time. Our response to the immutable, inscrutable plan of God is humble submission – fear God! The rest of the Bible unpacks this counsel, but in the short run the writer of Ecclesiastes tells us that time is planned by God, by an all-wise, loving, just God. You may want to argue with that, but you still are faced with the plan of God, and if you are angry with God and frustrated with the presence of evil, put these further thoughts on your key chain of time. Time past is to be handled by biblical processes such as repentance and forgiveness. As to time present, redeem it. Make the most of it. Don’t waste it. Time future? Leave tomorrow in God’s hands. Know the God of all your tomorrows. Look to Him for the freedom to accept life as God gives it (Matt. 6:30, check it out). Before you get on with the day, keep this thought within reach. The God who Jesus revealed can be fully trusted with the pages yet unwritten.A loving hand writes the pages of our book, hands with nail scars for our sake. The outlook is good for those who know Christ. For those who don’t know Christ. It is not so good. H
