Behold, the Lord GOD helps me; who will declare me guilty? Behold, all of them will wear out like a garment; the moth will eat them up. Isaiah 50:9

The prophets of the Old Testament are unappreciated and unread by many Christians. What a loss. Wrapped in the language of poetry in Isaiah is truth about the greatest person who has ever lived, described as the Servant of God. He is God’s chosen one, a human but more than a human, one who brings justice, a deliverer, a light to the Gentiles, one who lived a life of obedience to God. Kings will bow down to Him. People will honor Him. He will gather Israel back to the promised land. He will be despised and rejected but He will triumph. All this is revealed in only the first two portraits of the Servant, Israel’s Messiah. Listen to the Him speak in his third presentation of Himself. He speaks confidently of the defeat of His enemies. Since God was on His side, who can be against Him? Men tortured Him but God exalted Him (Acts 2:23-24). Truth and time will bring His enemies to nothing. They will be exposed for who they are. Their ideas about truth will be seen for what they are, empty and untruthful. How large does Jesus Christ, God’s Servant, loom in our lives? Are we enthralled with Him? Every conversion to Jesus Christ is a vindication of the just work of the Son of God. One day the tables will be turned, “The moth will eat them.” All who reject Jesus will stand before Him as their judge. What a shivering thought. We must not forget that the world is passing away and also its lusts, but He who does the will of God will abide forever. No moth will do any damage to those who are clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. H
