“Wisdom rests in the heart of a man of understanding, but it makes itself known even in the midst of fools.” Proverbs 14:33

Are you a wisdom seeker? To be so is to know that wisdom belongs to God. Wisdom is the ability to think and live skillfully in a fallen world. Hold on to this wisdom capsule: Wisdom tells us that she lives with God-seekers, but remains uninvited by the spiritually senseless. Well then, how does she/wisdom make herself known to the fool? By experiencing the consequences of rejecting wisdom or to put it another way, living with the pain and suffering that comes from bad decisions. We know this as folly. The wise are those who can discern reality. As one writer has put it, “The knowledge of God’s world and the knack of fitting oneself into it” (Cornelius Plantinga). The greatest of all time in wisdom living was Jesus. He noticed the details of life and what they meant in the divine order of things. His sharp eye picked up on things like what made a person tick who didn’t know how to show love and kindness. Their selfishness I.Q. was extraordinary. The fool is held hostage by his self-indulgence. We might say that the fool can only whistle in the dark. Life is hard on fools. They are always misjudging what is and what is not important. The wise know the difference between an experience that is truth-based and one that is based on emotions. H
A time to pray: “Lord of all wisdom, show me the difference between tolerance and forgiveness, between love and lust, and the difference between seeing myself as a victim and seeing myself as an overcomer.”
