“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Imagine being at war with God. It wouldn’t be a fair fight. However, such is the history of sinful, fallen humanity. You say, well only that small fraction of atheists have declared war on a belief in God. But not so fast. Before any of us were reconciled to God through faith in Christ, we were enemies of God (Rom. 5:10). Now we come to Isaiah’s fourth name/title of Israel’s coming Messiah, the Prince of Peace. Infinite peace is Jesus Christ to those who belong to Him. Are you at peace with God? He has a peace treaty written in The blood of Christ shed on the cross. Faith in Him will ratify that treaty with anyone who places their trust in Him. However, there is more. As the Prince of Peace, one day Jesus Christ will return to this earth and will order things the way they ought to be. When Christ brings His kingdom with Him the world will experience government like it has never experienced before. As Isaiah 2:4 declares, “And He will judge between the nations and will render decisions for many people.” No human weapons or armies will be able to withstand the Messiah’s rule. This will be when swords are hammered into plowshares. Nuclear power or whatever life killing weapons that exist will have peaceful functions. What a hope, prosperity and tranquility marking everyday life. So we should pray, “Your kingdom come.”
