“…and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds” Ephesians 4:23
January 24, 2023
The regenerating work of the Holy Spirit changes everything in the life of the new born Christian. A process of transformation begins to take place. The old mind, the old way of thinking according to our pre-conversion worldview, is to be replaced with loving God with all our mind. The kind of food our minds devour will determine the kind of person we become. The furniture of the old way of thinking has to be put out on the street: “a teen who goes to school thinking solely about the attention she will receive,” “a man who thinks his girlfriend should abort the baby he has fathered,” “a woman who thinks that her security will come from a man.” What are God’s resources for exchanging old thoughts with new ones? Great amounts of Bible truth accompanied by penetrating application of that truth. Routines that become infused with a biblical perspective. Self-control so that IPhones and the internet, and the secular worldview found there, do not shape our outlook on life and what we value. A thought-world that is awed by God’s greatness and goodness is to take over our mindset. Christian mind-renewal creates a bold contrast between the Christian and a non-Christian understanding of pain and suffering.

“Lord, I know that your Word is able to lay bare the thoughts and intents of the heart. I need you, Father, to enable me to sift out my wrong ways of thinking and give me your way of thinking.”
