“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Romans 12:1

The Christian’s resources in Christ are extraordinary. At conversion there are over 32 immediate provisions to live the Christian life. There are also hundreds of commands and responsibilities to which we are called. We may liken our standing before God to be the following. We are to live in response to what God has already done for us. It is our responsibility to exhibit the courage of obedience. Imagine it this way. You are standing at the door of a C-130J at 1300 feet. God has you completely covered for the jump. You will land in the drop zone. With parachute ready and cleared by the jump master, you jump. No hesitation. You propel yourself out. It is a jump of courageous obedience. That’s the Christian calling. We initiate acts of obedience in an unfriendly world for the glory of God. This was the kind of courage God expected from Israel in her pagan world. Keeping God’s law was meant to be a response to God’s covenant provisions. Do we see our lives this way? God’s moral law is clear with full coverage of those things that please Him. Are we open to the examining power of God’s Word? Is repentance our go to response to sins we commit? Am I alert to hypocrisies that lurk in the closets of my heart and behavior? Does the coming judgment seat of Christ condition my mind as I serve others? What are we to do? Christian paratroopers, here we stand at the door of God’s call to us. Jump!

“Lord, I desperately need the courage of obedience. I want all to see Christ’s presence in my life.”
