Thanksgiving in Heaven

“And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever.” Revelation 4:9

November 23, 2023

Heaven is a place of thanksgiving. Angels rejoice for every conversion on earth (Lk. 15:7). The great choirs of heaven raise their voices in adoration, praise, and thanksgiving to the Lord who reigns in majesty and glory (Rev. 7:11-12; 11:16-17). This Thanksgiving day calls us to offer praise for the perfections of God, “….for His lovingkindness is everlasting” (Psa. 106:1). “We praise him because he is kind to us even when we sin and merciful to us when we don’t deserve his mercy” (J. Boice). Praise God for His glorious redemptive work in Jesus Christ (“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift” 2 Cor. 9:15). Praise God for having chosen us and gifted us to serve Him (1 Tim. 1:12). Are you thankful for the role you play in the body of Christ? Praise God for the triumph of the gospel (2 Cor. 2:14). We have been subdued by grace. The fragrance of God’s grace is released through us. Think of lives that have been changed by the Spirit of God. Take time and consider what God is doing in the lives of His people. As heaven is filled with thanksgiving for who God is and what He is doing, may over time on this earth echo back that praise.
