“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us).” Matthew 1:23

If you have been paying attention, you undoubtedly have noticed how little, if anything, has been visualized or said about the birth of Jesus Christ. This observation is made within the boundaries of the commercial media. The secularization of our culture is coming into full bloom and it’s not pretty. Enter Matthew’s account of the birth of Jesus. A virgin conception; the Holy Spirit miraculously brought about the conception of Jesus in the womb of Mary. Jesus had no human father and was no ordinary human being. God became incarnate In Christ in order that He might die for sinners and save them from their sins. Only an incarnate God could be the Savior of sinners (Heb. 2:9,14,15). God became incarnate in order that He might share with humanity His own eternal life (Jn. 10:10). The Divine Shepherd must first give His life for the sheep in order that He may give His life to the sheep. His death for sinners was not merely to give an example of love. We have been provided with an everlasting revelation of God in visible human form. Our world system has no such provision for our sinfulness and the need for a life changing world within us. Carry this thought with you this advent week before Christmas.
