“By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.” Hebrews 11:7

What if God told you something that was going to happen which had no precedent in human history? That’s exactly what Noah experienced. This is a faith story that shows us how faith is to live in a world which has no time for God. Noah had 120 years to prepare for God’s judgment on the human race by a global flood. We don’t have to know the time span, but we do know there is an indefinite time before Christ comes back to earth (Matt. 24:39). Faith acts contrary to what history and our physical senses tell us. Faith acts out of deep reverence for God. We follow His instructions when using our financial resources for the glory of God. Faith does what is necessary for the future well-being of our family. Our obedience to God is part of the inheritance we can pass along to our children. Our faith response to God throws into bold relief the unbelief of our generation. We are not seduced by the fiction that we exist by chance and this life is all there is. God-pleasing faith establishes our witness to others that we who belong to Christ are not whistling in the dark as God’s judgment looms on the horizon.
