“The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia.” Daniel 10:13

You have prayed about a very important concern over three weeks. No answer from God. What is one way to think about this? Daniel, through a time of deep grief and great concern for Israel’s future, prayed (Dan. 10:2,12). He was to be given insight into the future of Israel. There was an immediate response with an angel delivering a revelatory answer to his prayer. The delay was explained by the angel. A satanic prince temporarily hindered the answer to Daniel’s prayer. It took the commander of holy angels, Michael, to assist the lieutenant angel to clear the way to get to Daniel. This is no small story. “The introduction of Michael into the story leads us to a further illustration of the principle of domination by imposing the power of higher rank” (Donald Grey Barnhouse). Michael, Israel’s archangel, had good reason to interject himself into this invisible combat in the heavenly realm (Dan. 10:21; 12:1). The prince of the kingdom of Persia (modern day Iran), a satanic adversary, knew that the message had to do with a coming defeat of satanic opposition. This episode is only one phase of the angelic conflict taking place until Christ returns. As you pray, keep in mind Ephesians 6:12: “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against…spiritual wickedness in high places.” Dear Christian, are you praying against the evil that is set against God’s purposes?
