A Call to Prayer

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

God has given Christians the amazing power of prayer to commune with our Heavenly Father and plead for His will to be done on earth. With that, hopefully we all agree. But how do we go about establishing a vibrant, consistent prayer life? The following is a brief acronym to help with that goal: PRAYER
Prepare a prayer notebook or list of some kind. The idea is to create some kind of organization for prayer requests, notes on prayer, and various classifications of prayer (praise, thanks, confession of sin, supplication). Prayer is a discipline taking time and energy.
React to all situations prayerfully. “We learn to pray by meditating on Scripture, for meditation is the missing link between Bible intake and prayer” (Donald S. Whitney). Avenues of truth open up as one prays for family, friends, decisions, marriages, sickness and grief, travels, news, etc. Having a set time for prayer does not exhaust the extent and occasions for prayer, but it can help to keep us from mind-wandering.
This is to be continued. In the meantime, ask God to revive your asking, seeking, and knocking. Our Heavenly Father wants us to commune with Him.
