The Squatter

“So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.” Romans 7:17

It is frequently reported that a squatter has taken over a dwelling place, usually a home, which he or she does not own. The squatter has no title or right to the place where they have settled. The apostle Paul did not get up on the wrong side of the bed when he disavowed his compliance with the old nature dwelling in him. The believer in Jesus Christ retains that disposition deep within which produces sinful attitudes and actions. Though that sin nature once owned us as a slave, it is no longer in charge. What are we to do? Hold the following close to your best thoughts and aspirations: Be in good spiritual shape. How has your endurance been through hard times? Stay clear headed. Don’t forget who you are in Christ and know the course you are to run. Remain resolved. It takes dogged determination to fight through temptations. Live by faith. Put one foot in front of the other in obedience to Christ.
