“But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone. So, as they had made known to him the people of Mordecai, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.” Esther 3:6

The word “Purim” is the Hebrew plural form of “Pur” which means “lot.” A lot was a small clay cube similar to our word “dice.” Haman, who hated the Jews, used the casting of lots to determine the best time to set in motion his plan to destroy the Jews. This was in reign of Xerxes the Persian king (486-465 B.C.).
“Purim is March 23-24 this year. It commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people from destruction as recorded in the book of Esther. The holiday is celebrated by reading the “Megillah” (scroll) of Esther, giving gifts of food and drink, and giving charity to the poor. As our Jewish friends celebrate Purim around the world, we thank God for His preservation of the Jewish people then and now! Let’s pray for their eyes to be opened to Jesus Messiah.” (Life in Messiah Ministries)
The nation of Israel is fighting for its existence at this very time. It is alarming as to the degree of anti-Semitism that is reemerging around the world.
We can see Satan’s attempt in Haman’s day to change the course of redemptive history and God’s plan for Israel. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
