“Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem.” Psalm 51:18

The Christian life requires upkeep. We understand this when it comes to property and a house we own. Grass has to be cut. Leaves in the gutter. The yard being used as an attic. Bless your neighbors and honor property value. Repentance is part of the upkeep in our walk with the Lord. Repentance of sin results in concern for what sin has done to others. David became conscious of the effects of his sin on the nation of Israel. He was the king and had a responsibility to those whom he served. The sad fact is that David’s sin damaged the nation for generations. “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall” (1 Cor. 10:12). Is there a love commitment which I am withholding from a family member? Is it an untruth I have told and need to make it right? David prayed that the work of building the walls, buildings, and temple might be completed. Overcoming sin brings blessing to others. God’s way of living should be our magnificent obsession.
