Beyond the Grave

“And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.” Romans 8:30

The remembrances have been overwhelming as the thousands of crosses tell so many stories of lives given for the freedolm of others. The 80th Anniversary of D-Day brings us to the stark reality of death. For Christians there is the hope of the completion of our salvation. The very ones God foreknew, those without the loss of one, He glorified. “Glorified!” God will make every believer in Jesus Christ fully realize their inheritance in Christ. The final step of our salvation is certain. The verb “glorified” is a very strong tense to emphasize the absolute completion of God’s saving work in those who belong to Christ. Our destiny is to be given new bodies in a new world, both of which will be transfigured with the glory of God (J. Stott). All this assures us of our security in Christ. Yes there will be temptations and seasons of hardships and discouragements. But we are secure in Christ’s love for all eternity. It doesn’t get any better than that.
