Living Fearlessly

“But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

We know it well. It is that physical and mental reaction to dangers real or imagined. We call it fear. Israel had to undergo divine discipline for her intrenched disobedience to the Creator and Lord. However, on the heels of reproach (Isa. 42) there came consolation. God’s purposes were being accomplished through redemption and restoration. All the elements that enter into the life of one of God’s people are supervised and controlled by our Creator. The “fear not” is not saying they we are immune to suffering, but rather we are not to fear that things have gotten out of control. On the basis of what God had done for Israel in the past they may look to the future with confidence. We can possess this piece of truth real estate by knowing that He who has redeemed me, surely He will do the lesser things of providing for me day to day.
