“And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:13

It is always important to follow the thought being developed in any part of the Bible. In Hebrews the writer is warning his Hebrew Christian readers of the danger of resisting the promises and warnings of God. It may be imperceptible at first but will begin with a refusal to obey the Word of God. Those who are drifting and doubtful will have their motives laid bare by the sword of God’s Word. All believers will stand before the judgment seat of Christ where they must give account to God for their lives. “We may conceal our inner being from our neighbors, and we can even deceive ourselves; but nothing escapes the scrutiny of God” (F.F. Bruce). Is there something going on in your own response to God’s rules for living? Or unbelievers saying “No” to the gospel of Jesus Christ. On a side note, hardening of the heart (a fist in God’s face) is possible on a national scale (Isa. 6:10; Matt. 13:14; Lk. 8:10). Woe to those people who insist on doing things their way and thumb their noses at God Almighty.

“O Lord in heaven above, I pray that the pulpits across our nation will not be silent in doing the necessary work of proclaiming the scrutinizing power of God’s Word.”
