The Baby and the Conqueror

From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.” Revelation 19:15

Christmas has been celebrated and rightly so because the Christ-child was Israel’s promised Messiah and the Savior of the world. But there is more, much more. He is coming a second time. God, as a helpless baby, has been turned into a sentimental baby shower. There are those who have made Jesus into some sort of helpless, well-meaning Santa Claus. The climax of the entire story of the Bible reveals heaven opened and the General, the glorified, adult God-man, Jesus Christ, leading the armies of heaven. He will come with the sword of the almighty Word of God and the Messiah’s rod of iron. For some reason this part of the Jesus story gets edited out of the world’s theology. Jesus Christ will judge with death-dealing power at His Second Coming. Those who have invested in unbelief and decided to do things their way have an eternal debt to pay. Are you prepared to meet the Conquering Savior? Are you a friend or foe? The baby in a manger is to be the Judge of all mankind.

“The early believers were not looking for something to happen, they were looking for Someone to come. Looking for the train to arrive is one thing, but looking for someone we love to come on that train is another matter.”
