“My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!” Psalm 31:15
May 28, 2025
David did not see himself as a victim of circumstances. Man turned from him but he turned to God (“But I trust in you, O LORD, I say, ‘You are my God.’” Psa. 31:14). Are you convinced that God controls history? What about the circumstances in which you presently find yourself? David found comfort and contentment when surrounded by his enemies and persecutors. Our times are in God’s hands. How are you thinking about your future? We have an entire generation beset by the observation that a great rewiring of childhood “is causing an epidemic of mental illness” (The Anxious Generation, Jonathan Haidt). Columnist, Peggy Noonan says, “Can we save our Children from Smartphones?” Depression, anxiety, and other disorders are plaguing our youth. Social deprivation, sleep deprivation, attention fragmentation, and addiction are harmful forces attaching themselves to a phone-based childhood. Let us not become mired in despair. Calling all Christians. Our times are in God’s hands. We have a great work before us to commit ourselves to the youth among us. They must be equipped with the stabilizing truth that God gives all the resources needed for thinking His thoughts regardless of the circumstances in life. To be continued.
