“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6

Thomas, the disciple of Jesus, was a mix of devotion to Christ (Jn. 11:16), but had his infamous doubting episode after the resurrection of Jesus (Jn. 20:24-28). The question mark over his head led to an exclamation mark by the Savior. There is only one way to the Father’s house. Jesus doesn’t just point to the way. He is the only way into God’s eternal kingdom. He was saying He was the way because He is the truth, the perfect revelation of the Father. This reality shuts down all the nonsense of “everyone has their own truth.” He is the life by which we may truly live. To accept this truth is to be on the way. This means that God’s revelation of Himself in nature is not sufficient to bring a lost person to salvation (Rom. 1:19-21). No one, no matter how sincere, well intentioned, or religious can go to heaven apart from faith in Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 1:21). God can only be known as Father through belief in Jesus Christ. Have you placed your conscious faith in Him? Jesus brings us to God. Jesus makes us free. He is the only redeemer. Jesus makes it possible for us to have fellowship with Him forever. Without the life of the Savior there is no living.

“Lord, I thank you for Thomas’ question. I think of those who I know that have never placed their trust in Christ for eternal life. I pray that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes to the truth that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.”
