A Response to Hate

“Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:9

The death of Charlie Kirk has lifted the lid off innumerable issues. Biblical truth is shouting for attention. In many ways the anger, mockery, hatred, and slander being vented toward the assassination of a fellow believer tells a story. We have to discern what are blows struck against biblical Christianity and those that are merely political rhetoric. It is vital that we who are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ know how to respond to attacks on our faith. Verbal and physical persecution are to be met with Christlike behavior. Do not allow unrighteous anger and vengeance to take over. Endure verbal blows triumphantly (1 Cor. 4:12-13). Pray for those who speak evil against us (Matt. 5:44; 1 Cor. 4:8-10; Heb. 10:32-34). Evil is overcome by good (Rom. 12:14). This can be done by sharing the gospel with those who will listen. Be content and joyful (2 Cor. 12:10; Jn. 16:33). Be ready to give a reason for the hope that is within us (1 Pet. 3:15). Never forget that we are pilgrims (1 Pet. 2:11). We are on a journey to the coming kingdom of Christ. There will be rewards for faithfulness to God in times of persecution (Matt. 5:12). Remember, evil lurks in the shadows even when there are massive outpourings of exuberance forJesus Christ.
