What does it mean to live by faith? Hebrews 11 gives us shining examples in the hall of faith. The foundation for faith living is that faith is our response to God’s revelation. How seriously do you take the Bible? Biblical faith is the assurance and conviction that what God has said is true and that it is to be acted upon. Faith commends those who live by it. But first, a few misconceptions: “Faith is a blind leap in the dark.” False. This will only kill you. Faith is not unreasonable. “Faith is mental energy attempting to create reality.” False. Just because you believe, God will give you your dream home, or that you will win the lottery. “Believing in spite of the evidence.” This would be superstition. “Faith is a feeling.” False. That is faith in faith. Unless God has spoken there is no faith. True faith is not blind optimism or a manufactured hope-so feeling. Do you want God’s approval on your life and service? Faith shapes the character. It molds us. True faith enables us to do God’s will in the face of obstacles we encounter in this world.
