Pressing on to the Prize

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

Urgency in following Christ. Nowhere is the compelling quest of the Christian life more vividly expressed than in Paul’s experience. The healthy believer has a desire to experience God in the fullest way. Pressing on in our walk of faith requires that we know how to forget the past. Look in the rear view mirror and see Philippians 3:13. There are some things we should not forget, but we are to forget the idols we once adored and obeyed. Those things that were more important than Jesus Christ. Pressing on to finish well in the grace lane of knowing Christ requires the protection of mental, physical, and spiritual discipline. Don’t allow the pleasures of self-satisfaction to diminish your taste for what is not seen. The eye of faith sets its sight on what God has waiting for us. Picture that wonderful moment of seeing Christ and hearing, “well done faithful servant.” How is your prospect for that moment?
