“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.” 1 Peter 4:7

First of all the bad news. We are living in a hollow and hostile culture. An active political group is working to undermine the historic and biblical values of our nation. Marriage is considered optional. Children are a burden. Patriotism is extreme. Biological sex differences are considered outdated. Responsibility is considered a trap. Jesus forewarned His disciples of powerful deceptions that are going to get worse. Peter is blunt; “the end of all things is at hand.” We are there. Now the good news, at least part of it. The end-of-all-things living demands a God-seeking, life-dominating prayer life. We can talk to the Creator God of the universe. Do you want to make your prayer life more effective? Think God’s thoughts and order your life according to His precepts. No doubt Peter had not forgotten what watchfulness meant from his experience in the garden of Gethsemane. He was sleepy and kept falling asleep. How is your situational awareness? Do we know what is going on around us? A man-made paradise is not going to happen. Go after a vigorous, clear-headed, God-pursuing mind. This will lead to a more enjoyable prayer life.

Reflections:
What are some of the things that are hindering a robust, consistent prayer life for you?
What are some of the injustices and evils that keep barking at you? How do you talk to God about them?
