Envy does not keep very good company. Sadly, it can easily slip under the spiritual radar of any wandering heart. The following thoughts were written by our daughter, Miriam.
“Recently I was slapped in the face with a bad case of envy. It was instant, came out of ‘nowhere’ (except a sinful heart) and it was intense.
Most people would affirm me in my envy, understand, excuse, but not God.
God’s Word lists envy with ‘big’ sins like murder, adultery, witchcraft, and orgies.
Envy is a beast because at the root of it lies doubt of God’s goodness.
Why do I think I deserve something that God has not given?
Beware of the sin of envy!
It erodes your trust in God’s goodness.
What do you think you deserve that God has not given you?
Replace that envy with a heart of gratitude.
Flip that envy switch and thank God for His blessings instead.”
