“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

God’s Word is God speaking. As we properly interpret the Scriptures they serve as the voice of God. Beware of those who will tell you that they are hearing the voice of God (e.g.”God told me”). People who look for guidance/instruction through omens, signs, audible voices, etc. and yet do not put their minds on the sacred text are dangerous. God’s Word is sufficient in giving us the mind of God on how to live and please Him. But not only is God’s Word living, it is active (powerful). The Bible is effective in fulfilling its purpose. It is energetic in its operation. It cries out for personal decision to be made in response to its message. The Scriptures have unlimited capability; it regenerates (the new birth), opens eyes, changes lives, changes nations, and brings revival. What about your attitudes, for example, the Christian who carries around wrong thinking. The Word of God has been instrumental in great movements of God. Martin Luther, greatly instrumental in the Reformation, said this: “I simply taught, preached, wrote God’s Word, otherwise I did nothing. And while I slept, . . . The Word so greatly weakened the papacy that never a Prince or Emperor inflicted such damage upon it, I did nothing. The Word did it all.”
