“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.”

Elections serve as a weather vane telling us how the voting public is thinking or not thinking. This one was different in degree. There was much at stake in terms of critical moral issues and the future of our nation.
- To say that God is in control is not enough (Isa. 45:7). Yes, He is sovereign over all human affairs, including politics and government. However, sovereignty doesn’t necessarily mean approval. In every example of divine sovereignty in the Bible there is a context. Babylon’s destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple (Jer. 43:10) meant death and severe deprivation. Yes, God is in control, but we are responsible for thinking and acting in obedience to His commands.
- We are living to see the banquet of consequences that come with rebellion against God’s moral laws and creation order. In many sectors the green light is on regarding expansive abortion, the LGBTQ+ agenda, socialism, transgenderism.
- Don’t confuse the Day of the Lord events (e.g. Ezek. 38-39; the Book of Revelation) with difficult times (2 Tim. 3:1).
- Listen to praise music to draw your attention upward to God and His goodness. Take a lesson from Israel’s response to the bad news of an approaching enemy (2 Chron. 20:19, 26, the Valley of Berachah).
