A Call to Prayer2

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippines 4:6

It has been said that anxiety is a mild case of atheism. That’s a scary thought. All the more reason to continue on with the challenge to establishing a consistent prayer life following the acronym PRAYER.
Accumulate (to act upon) prayer requests. The wise church can help with this by acquiring and organizing prayer needs of its missionaries. Also, writing down prayer requests can counteract forgetfulness. Yield your best time and available energy to the work of prayer. We need a mind that has a truth-grip on reality. Obsessions with movies, cell phones, and video games can cloud one’s thinking process and decision making. Do I really know what is going on around me and how to respond in prayerful ways? Also needed is a mind that refuses to be intoxicated with the cares of the world. Take notice on how much instruction in the New Testament is given within the context of the return of Jesus Christ, “The end of all things is at hand; therefore, be self-controlled and sober minded for the sake of your prayers” (1 Pet. 4:7).
