Wisdom tells us that a loving, loyal spouse is the most valuable asset a home can have. When biblical Christianity began to assert its influence on the first century pagan world, its impact was nuclear. “Christianity condemned promiscuity among men as well as women. It stood out as radically different because it taught that a husband actually wrongs his wife by committing adultery” (The Toxic War on Masculinity, Nancy Pearcey, p.53). The divinely given revelational order in the home is mutual loyalty of a husband and wife. Neo-paganism is attempting to destroy such a moral compass. “By forbidding men to have sex with slaves, prostitutes, or other men, the Bible put the sexual genie securely into the bottle of marriage” (Pearcey). Young men are prepared for life and marriage as they understand that the husband provides and protects, and leads. The husband is to trust his wife and give her room to become all that God wants her to be (Prov. 31:11, “the heart of her husband trusts in her”). Husbands, are we attempting to understand our wives? The wife, in her devoted loyalty, is the best of God’s blessings to her husband. She makes an incalculable contribution to the family’s stability (Prov. 14:1, “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands.”). A loving, loyal, nourishing, and cherishing husband and a loving, loyal Mrs. Far-Above-Rubies is the gospel in technicolor.
