“And Jesus asked him, ‘What is your name?’ He replied, ‘My name is Legion, for we are many.’ And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.” Mark 5:9, 20

Everyone has a worldview. Simply put, all worldviews march under the banner of materialism. Here’s how C.S. Lewis skillfully explains the deception of the world with regard to the matter of spirits/demons: “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the (demons). One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors, and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.” Jesus got in the ring with a man possessed with perhaps thousands of demons. With calmness, gentleness, fearlessness, and supernatural authority, He cast the demons into a herd of pigs, about two thousand of them. They unceremoniously, the pigs that is, drowned in the Sea of Galilee. The response of the man was stunning. We see him sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind (Lk. 8:35). John Calvin puts this in perspective for all of us who have come to Christ: “Though we are not tortured by the devil (I wonder), yet he holds us as his slaves, till the Son of God delivers us from his tyranny. Naked, torn, and disfigured, we wander about, till he restores us to soundness of mind.” Jesus knocked Satan’s demons out in the first round. If you have put your trust in Jesus Christ, now is the time to tell others what He has done for you.
