Wisdom tells us that a woman who builds her home is a better choice than one who destroys her home. We have a choice in life, the choice between wisdom (doing things God’s way) or folly (doing things the world’s way). The status of women in the Old Testament is one of seeing her as a fellow heir of the image of God. She is given the responsibility of supporting and serving along side of her husband. She is not a piece of property to be used or abused. A word to future husbands looking for a wife. Much of Proverbs was written in order to prepare the young men of Israel for marriage. Here are some “on-line specs:” (1) Is pleasing God the center and focus of her aspirations? (2) The Bible is very important to her. (3) Pray for wisdom in looking for your future spouse. Sadly, there are women who have a love-affair with themselves and swim in the waters of shallow thinking. A wise woman will not marry a fool. She has the building skills of God’s supplied by biblical truth available to her.
