“The LORD said: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks, glancing wantonly with their eyes, mincing along as they go, tinkling with their feet…” Isaiah 3:16

Over time every society in human history has its sad story of moral and spiritual decline. The latter half of the eighth century before Christ revealed how Judah’s covenantal spiritual fabric was coming unraveled. One of the breakdowns was “the women of Zion.”Living in the city of God under the shadow of the Temple make the Lord’s grievances with His people more acute (Isa. 3:16-26). In one sense, as go the women so goes societal stability. The women were more interested in drawing attention to themselves rather than to God and his law. When sexual identity rules thinking and relationships it is a fast ride to civilizational collapse. The optics of this are not pretty: Outer beauty without inner beauty is a monstrosity (Prov. 11:22). A rebellious woman destroys femininity (Prov. 31:30). A decadent society is characterized by insecure women who attempt to find their meaning in disregard for the unborn they carry in their wombs. We are not through with this tragic narrative. Men and women, this a call to pray for the women of America.

“What sort of world might it have been if Eve had refused the Serpent’s offer and had said to him instead, ‘Let me not be like God. Let me be what I was made to be – let me be a woman?”
