“And give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth.” Isaiah 62:7
October 17, 2023
The tiny nation of Israel has been under siege since its founding in 1948 as a homeland for Jews from all parts of the world. Arab nations surrounding Israel have attempted on three occasions to destroy the hopes and dreams of the Israelis, but God in His providence has not let it happen. On October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorists launched a shock invasion of Israel from Gaza. Whole families were slaughtered, babies were decapitated, old people killed and taken hostage, and women were raped. Thousands of rockets reigned down on the population. It was through the prophet Isaiah that hope for Israel’s future was proclaimed. Looking beyond the terrible times to come, rabid antisemitism and the horrors of the Great Tribulation, Israel’s Messiah will come and establish His kingdom on earth and will rule in Jerusalem (Isa. 2:2-4). In the words of Alva McClain, “The nations which once ‘despised’ Jerusalem shall call her, ‘The city of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel’ (Isa. 60:14).” The prophets-watchmen were to pray, as well as all who name King Jesus as their King are to pray, for the peace of Jerusalem. How many times have the words, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done” been recited and prayed? Israel has a future and God will bring it to pass. Are you praying for Israel? Many in this world are against her. One day the Messiah will come and fulfill His promises.
