God and Young Men

“Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that any opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.” Titus 2:7-8

The desperate need in Christian ranks is young men who are serious about God. Paul’s challenge to his understudy, Titus, was for the discipleship of young men in the church congregations throughout the Isle of Crete. The same is true today. Young men need other men who will encourage them and give them footprints in the sand. Young men need sound, clear, Christ-centered, life-transforming Bible teaching. The choice of a church for a young man should not be governed by how many single young women are there, nor high-powered worship music, or magnetic social activities. These things are not wrong in themselves. But young men need a church life where the truth of God’s Word is taught uncompromisingly and boldly. They need a truth-rich environment .
The war against boys and young men is real. The following resolution is offered: “I will live the rest of my life to exalt God in my desires, my thoughts, my words, and actions. I will take the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit, God’s Word, to be my protection against the deceptions of Satan.”

A prayer for young men: “Heavenly Father, keep me from wasting my life on frivolous pursuits. Guide me so that I may find a wife who is above all things one who loves you with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength.”
