He is Risen

“And he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.’” Mark 16:6

Sunday is here and the Servant-King has risen. The angel who had rolled away the stone made the startling announcement to the women who were puzzled by the bodiless tomb. What had happened? Skeptics have attempted to explain away the reality of the resurrection. It was U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia who put the dunce hat on all of them when before an audience in 1996 he said, “The wise do not believe in the resurrection of the dead. It is really absurd. So everything from the Easter morning to the Ascension had to be made up by the groveling enthusiasts as part of their plan to get themselves martyred.” Let the trumpet sound throughout the universe, the resurrection of the Servant-King was declared by the confirmation of His death. The dead are buried. Ask the women who saw Jesus’ death and burial. The resurrection of the Servant-King was declared by eyewitnesses. The women who were there were not expecting a resurrection. All this leading to the climactic truth, the resurrection of the Servant-King was declared by a divine explanation of the empty tomb. God raised Jesus from the dead. This was God’s seal of approval upon the redemptive work of Christ. If He had not been raised, we would still be in our sins (1 Cor. 15:12-14). Because of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ there is no wrath to bear, no sin that cannot be forgiven, no penalty left to pay for sin, and no guilt to bear. Praise the Savior. Is He your Savior? An empty tomb is the door to eternal life.
