“Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers.” Psalm 64:2
February 26, 2025
The presence of evil can paralyze our thoughts. Fear can do terrible damage to our thinking if we let it. That is why we must have, in the words of Derek Kidner, “the good sense of asking for deliverance from the state of mind which would put an end to clear thought and firm resistance” (Psa. 64:1). Do you have fears that are eating your lunch? We must bring our case to God. David was surrounded by those who hated him and wanted to destroy him. We have similar conditions in the sinister plots of a secular society that bullies Christian students in the classroom. Medical students are told men can have babies, that science tells us that gender is not limited to male and female. The heat of hatred against King David came from even his own family. Absalom, his son, was plotting against him. Hiding in God is the place to go. How so? Nestled in the arms of our Heavenly Father is not mere sentimental escapism. No! It means being where there are greater thoughts that can inspire us. God knows the dangers we face. He has the resources we need to gain the right perspective. Never forget, evil people are accountable to God and will be judged.
