“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. . . .How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them.” Psalm 139:13-14, 17

“I know that You know me and are with me because of the way You made me.” Let that sit on the bottom shelf of your mind. This is the third ballast that keeps us stable through the storms of life. Your God is big enough as you realize His infinite wisdom in forming you (vv. 13-18). Praise God for His power. “If God is not all-powerful, there must be some power or powers greater than God” (J. Boice). God fashions each of us for a purpose. A person even in the womb – language has shifted today to no longer speak about the “baby” in the womb but the fetus or embryo. We are unique because of God, not because of chance. Praise is the proper response to God’s grace to us in writing the book of our life.

Reflections:
How should the fact that each of us is unique humble us and encourage us?
Is there some aspect of how you were formed in the womb disappointing to you?
