“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” Hebrews 1:3

“Chance, luck, accident, fortune, fate, karma.” These words represent the failed worldview of chance through time, a feeble attempt to explain why things happen. The supremacy of Jesus Christ is evident in the fact that “He upholds all things by the word of His power.” The Spirit-chosen word translated to uphold means to carry or bear. Theologian Wayne Grudem expresses it well when he says “sustain. . . has the sense of active, purposeful control over the thing being carried from one place to another.” The continuation of the universe depends upon the omnipotence and unchangeableness of Christ. It could even be said that so-called “scientific laws” do not exist. Science cannot guarantee they will continue tomorrow. They are divine laws. Known “scientific laws” and phenomena depend entirely upon the faithfulness of the Lord Jesus Christ. While on earth His word stilled the storm, healed the sick, and raised the dead. This is the Jesus who is worthy of our love and trust. There is no other like Him. He alone deserves our praise.
