“…it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” 1 Corinthians 13:6

True love marches to a different drummer than the culture. Jesus did not rejoice in unrighteousness and neither should those who follow Him. Disordered love is everywhere, in movies, books, sit-coms, music. Take for example these song lyrics: “If loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right! Or : “It can’t be wrong, if it feels so right!” Love chooses not to delight in the sins of others, nor is it amused by wrongdoing. The Corinthian culture was devoted to the pursuit of immorality. The church in Corinth looked the other way when a man was sleeping with his step-mother (1 Cor. 5:1-2). Love rejoices with the truth as it chooses to delight in those things that please God. Sadly, there are some in Christian circles in our day that tell us that “love is more important than doctrine.” The biblical fact of the matter is that “without revealed truth love collapses into a welter of satanic sentimentalism.” (Dr. John C. Whitcomb)
Do I enjoy endless discussions about what is wrong with others, my church, my in-laws, etc.? Do I demand truth-telling of myself and keep the promises I make?

“Loving Lord, work in me a love so great for you and others that it will make delighting in evil totally unwelcome in the home of my heart.”
