“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:7

Love is the language of truth. Love is the expression of truth. Why should we love one another? Firstly, because of false teaching that seeks to disconnect knowledge of God from the love of God. Secondly, because Christians are to take care as to how they live. Knowing God should be evident in the way we relate to people, how we think about them and how we treat them. Love, therefore, endures all things. It chooses to not stop loving. It never gives up. It can outlast anything. Hate, evil, and indifference eat love’s dust. When hopes are dashed to pieces, what does love do then? It stands and endures. It is willing to undergo hardships, betrayals, disappointments, and vitriolic attacks upon God and His mercies in Jesus Christ. Do I have a tendency to bail out in hard times? Do I live with my bags packed? It was Jesus’ love for us and the joy that was set before Him that He endured the cross, despising the shame. That’s the kind of love for which we should thirst.

“Dear God of infinite love, keep me on the offensive with love. Keep me from becoming enamored with the temporary things of this world. Help me to speak the love language of truth more fluently.”
