“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant.” 1 Corinthians 13:4

Lest we think that love is only reactive (patient), we are to know that love is active by seeking to be helpful. Jesus immediately comes to mind as you think of His non-stop concern for all types of people. He healed the afflicted, cast out demons, raised the dead, and most importantly He taught the wonderful words of eternal life. You can’t be more kind than to tell the lost and unforgiven of the hope of the gospel. Kindness displays itself by choosing to reach out to others in order to make their lives richer. This world is filled with hurting, anxious, and suffering people. We can sweeten the lives of others by encouraging words and reaching out to offer a comforting hand. Do I look for ways to help others? Am I aware of the needs of those around me? What a difference it would make for children to grow up seeing kind and understanding fathers and men. Think of the last time you were shown kindness. It’s one of God’s ways to remind us of what love looks like.
