“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30

Loving God with all our strength is harnessing our physical energy to discipline our life for godliness (1 Tim. 4:8). Am I pouring myself into the pursuit of Christlike character? This will mean doing what is necessary to rise early in the day to meet with God in His Word and prayer. This will mean taking care of my body, the temple of the Holy Spirit, eating right, getting the sleep I need, scheduling physical exercise, not over eating. Loving God is me using my eyes, ears, feet, hands, time and energy to obey God. We have different energy levels with variations as we get older which requires awareness of the priorities a renewed mind brings (Rom. 12:2). Try prayer walks. Go to the gym if that works best for you. It might also include small things like reading the ingredient labels on the snacks and food I eat. A five minute nap before Bible reading and study might be some good “medicine.” We are all wired physically different but there is no excuse for wasting time with things that are unnecessarily keeping us for our physical best for the glory of God.
