“Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good.” Titus 2:3
April 12, 2024
Older Christian women are to be models. Surprised? Don’t be. God wants women who are aging into their latter years to model what it means to be radiant as they adorn gospel truth. One of the challenges they face is allowing emotions and physical desires to make them slaves to frustrations and disappointments. Depression and loneliness can be the pathway to escape by way of alcohol or drugs. Medication, whether prescribed or unprescribed, should not be an excuse for avoiding personal responsibility for attitudes and behavior. Advanced years can bring on physical pain, anxiety, fear, and depression, but must not eclipse dependence on God. Younger women need the wisdom, strength, and encouragement available from wives, mothers, and grandmothers who weathered the trials of life and are overcomers by the grace of God. Experience with life’s problems should not be used to pour water on the glowing embers of the dreams and plans of young wives and mothers.

A prayer for all: “O Ancient of Days, bring forward in these troublesome days older Christian women known for their spiritual maturity.”
