No One

As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one;” Romans 3:10-12

Human nature; what is it like? Some say, we are ok (essentially well). Some say we are almost ok (sick but capable of rehabilitation). Scripture says we are not ok, but spiritually dead (Eph. 2:1). Knowing this, acknowledging this is the way to hope. Here is God’s diagnosis of man the sinner.
No one conforms to God’s standards. The difference between human righteousness and God’s righteousness is the difference between what is imagined and what is real.
No one has spiritual perception. This is not referring to a lack of human knowledge. No one understands the depth of biblical truth. The truth that really matters is suppressed (Rom. 1:21).
No one seeks God. Man the sinner is running from God as fast as he can, seeking relief from his guilt and troubles. No one makes an effort to know Him. The human heart is an idol factory (Calvin). We need to be rescued by God in the new birth (Jn. 3:16).

Reflection:
What do you think of the following statement? “Man is really using religious trappings to disguise his intention of running away from the Almighty and everything true commitment and faith would entail.” (James Boice). Can you give some examples?
