We live in a therapy driven culture. Vast amounts of money are spent in the attempt to find out more about oneself. “What’s wrong with me?” “Why can’t I get along with my spouse?” The mental health of the masses is big business. The psalmist knew that God knew all about him before he was born (Psa. 139:15). The prophet Samuel was told that God sees not as man sees for man looks at the outward appearance (1 Sam. 16:7). The sobering truth is that we are all completely transparent before God. He knows about all the details of our life, our joys, suffering, “Does He not see my ways and count my every step?” (Job 31:4). Don’t fool yourself, God is not too great to notice everything about us. “The knowledge that our Heavenly Father knows us completely. . . Is unutterably sweet. No talebearer can inform on us, no enemy can make an accusation stick; no forgotten skeleton can come tumbling out of some hidden closet to abash us and expose our past, no unsuspected weakness in our characters can come to light to turn God away from us;. . .” (A.W. Tozer, “The Knowledge of the Holy). God knows all our thoughts, motives, actions.
