“Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.” Hebrews 12:3

Are you running well? Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a life-long run, not a sprint. Jesus saw beyond this life into the next and so must we. As the athlete, so must we keep our eyes fixed on the goal toward which we are pressing. Jesus has set the standard and blazed the trail for us. Triumphant faith, that is the pace at which we are to follow. There will be our share of pain and suffering, though Jesus’ was far greater. The joy that was set before Him was the eternal satisfaction of accomplishing our redemption. The joy before us is having endured the challenges that have been designed for us and then to be forever in the presence of Jesus Christ. Running to win the pleasure of our Savior is incentive enough to not waste our lives.

“Father, I know that Jesus was a ‘runner’ in a class by Himself. I need the power to faithfully live with joy through the obstacles I face while seeing what awaits me at the finish line.”
