So Why Be a Christian Patriot?

“Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.” 1 Peter 2:13-14

The following is an excerpt from a longtime friend in his A Call to Christian Patriotism. Dr. Howard A. Eyrich

“Our worship is a display of beliefs that the world despises. Our worship begins with the recognition that God is the Creator – with this, we have just isolated most of the hard sciences. Our worship acknowledges that we are sinners and enemies of God – we have just isolated the social sciences. Our worship exclusively embraces a resurrected Jesus – we have just isolated all other religions. Our worship proclaims that Jesus is coming again as the Righteous King – we have just isolated all other political systems….We cannot afford to be patriots who simply want to retain a way of life. Neither can we afford to be Christians who naively enjoy liberty. We must be Christians who are completely involved in the propagation of the Gospel, while at the same time taking the responsibility to be Americans, so as to preserve our freedom for the sake of the Gospel: thus we are Christian Patriots.”

“O, Lord God, we come with grateful hearts for the freedom you secured for us Christians in the establishment of this nation.”
