Stuck in the Mud

“Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” Jude 1:3

“Man stuck in Alaska mud flats reportedly drowns as tide comes in.” In recently breaking news this was the awful experience of a 20 year old man who became submerged up to his waist in the quicksand-like silt. He paid the price for walking on the middle ground between land and sea. It didn’t work out well. Such is the plight of those who think that going to the middle of moral and theological issues is the best place to be. Avoid the extremes, we are told. This is happening in politics and among evangelicals. This is a time to know what is at stake when biblical doctrines are ignored for fear of offending non-Christians. Finding the safe way in order to reach more people with the gospel is not the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20). Sweetened versions of diversity, inclusion, and equity are pedaled in the pulpit. A new brand of racism is disguised as anti-racism. Being woke is marching under the banner of the new cultural orthodoxy that America was founded on lies. There is a famine in the land. It is one of the absence of robust expository preaching. Feel-goodism is replacing minds that should be soaked in an understanding of the Scriptures. Genuine love warns others of the tide of destructive consequences that come with deceptive compromises. Run to the Scriptures, not to the mud-flat middle.
